With BlackBerry sinking, Apple has managed to sneak into the enterprises. In an interview with BusinessInsider, Apple’s CEO and CFO, Tim Cook and Steve Oppenheimer, described the company’s enterprise sales figures as “unbelievable”, with the majority of Fortune 500 and Global 500 companies now opting for iPhones and iPads rather than devices made by other companies.

It’s clear that the enterprise area has huge potential, and we’re doing well from a percentage of companies that are using iPhone and iPad. It’s up to unbelievable numbers. The iPhone is used in 97% of the Fortune 500, and 91% of the Global 500, and iPad is used in 98% of the Fortune 500 and 93% of the Global 500.” said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple.

Oppenheimer went on to add that 90% of tablet activations in the corporate world are iPads, and 95% of app activations were carried out on iOS. The CFO also noted that iOS 7 has been cleared for use in federal agencies, having obtained a FIPS 140-2 certificate.

All said, we’re everything but surprised that the likes of Cisco, American Airlines, GE, Deloitte and the NFL are all going for iDevices rather than Android-based phones and tablets.

Meanwhile, we have Samsung investing in its Knox solution which has thus far failed to attract a large audience. Things could change in the future, though.
