Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 mini are getting special Black Edition versions in Russia. While we’re not sure whether these models will also be available in other parts of the world, we know that they bring the Galaxy Note 3-like look and feel to Sammy’s flagship device. The faux leather on the back is much better than plastic back cover of the “regular” Galaxy S4.

Unfortunately, existing Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 mini owners can’t just get this faux leather back cover. This, special treat, is limited only to those willing to pay the premium upfront. It’s not a hefty premium though: whereas the “standard” Galaxy S4 is selling for 22,000 Rubles the new Black Edition model goes for 1,000 Rubles more ($660). The situation is the same with the Galaxy S4 mini – the “pure plastic” version could be yours for 15,000 Rubles while the black unit with faux leather on the back costs 16,000 Rubles ($460).

The prices mentioned above are from Russia’s carrier Megafon; we’re not sure how much Sammy will ask for Black Edition devices in other parts of the world… presuming they actually launch outside of Mother Russia…
