Motorola Holding February 25th Press Event at MWC, No New Devices Expected

MWC 2014 is about to commence in Barcelona, and Motorola will be there with bells on. The almost Lenovo owned company will be holding a press event on Tuesday, February 25th in Barcelona, at Casa Llotja de Mar, which sounds super fancy. You can bet your bottom dollar that Motorola won’t be taking to the stage to announce a new smartphone or tablet, but rather unveil news and details about its new parents, Lenovo. Google sold Motorola to Lenovo just last week, and the deal is expected to be approved within the coming months.

Motorola has been steadily leaking money, even after the company’s 2013 rebranding and new devices. Motorola released three DROID devices in 2013, the Moto X and the Moto G. While the Moto X got its fair share of hype, the mid-range smartphone has not been selling so well, as Google’s recent price cuts and deals on the Moto reflect. In fact, you can pick up a Moto X off-contract for $70 off the normal price from now until February 14th, Valentine’s day.

Stay tuned for our coverage of MWC 2014 in Barcelona for more details.
