While Playstation 4 owners were treated to Outlast for free this month, developer Red Barrels has stayed pretty much as to when the world would be getting the first DLC expansion for the title. Now we know that we can expect to see Outlast: Whistleblower for the PS4 and PC this April!

Outlast is one of the best survival horror titles we’ve seen in a long time. The lack of combat in the game may be a turn off for some but it’s ability to keep you on the edge of your seat is something to admire.

With nothing but a camcorder and your wits, Outlast puts you in the shoes of an investigative reporter, Miles Upshur, set on bringing down the illegal experiments and other happenings at Mount Massive Asylum, but you chose the wrong day to break into the place. You’ll be evading “Variants”, mad priests, and more by hiding in lockers and under beds in attempts to escaping the Asylum.

Take a look at the description of Outlast: Whistleblower below:

Whistleblower will let you play as Waylon Park, a software engineer under contract with Murkoff and the man who emailed journalists around the world – including Miles – at the beginning of Outlast. Spending a couple of weeks at Mount Massive, during which he was unable to even talk to his wife and son in Boulder thanks to strict security protocols, Waylon developed a deep-seated distrust of the profit-motivated scientists and doctors leading dangerous and irresponsible experiments on their patients. Identifying with those poor souls fueled Waylon’s anger, and set the stage for his unmasking of Mount Massive’s rotten core.

Although Whistleblower tells the story that led to Outlast, it will actually stretch past the events of the first game to show the final chapter in Mount Massive Asylum’s story.

There’s currently no hard release date for Outlast: Whistleblower, but it’s not too far off now!
