Now that its devices unit has been sold to Microsoft, Nokia is free to conquer other platforms. And it’s actively working for developers to help it port HERE maps to iOS and Android.

In two separate job listings, the Finns are looking for experienced developers who will not only make HERE apps for the two platforms, but also get involved in the creation of an SDK that would extend Nokia’s maps to third-party applications.

For those who don’t know, Nokia’s Navteq division provides maps for a number of popular services and devices, including Microsoft, Yahoo, Garmin and Amazon.com. Although Google is getting increasingly powerful in the mapping services, Navteq maps are used by more big companies all around the world.

Unfortunately, we can’t put a date behind Nokia’s plans, but we’ll make sure to keep our eyes wide open and let you know as soon as we hear something new on this, like when HERE maps hit the major app markets. Stay tuned…
