Xiaomi released an iPad killer this morning, the MiPad. This is the fledgling Chinese company’s first foray into tablet territory, and they’re not messing around. The MiPad is the first tablet to take advantage of NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 processor, which packs a quad-core 2.2GHz Cortex A15 CPU and a GPU with 192 CUDA cores. Basically, a PC packed into a tablet, and an affordable one at that. The 16GB MiPad will retail for around $240, while the 64GB version will run $270.

Apart from the processor, the MiPad rocks a 7.9-inch display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 and a pixel density of 326 ppi, 2GB of RAM, an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP camera up front for selfies. As far as storage goes, there will be two models, one with 16GB of storage and one with 64GB. Both models will include a microSD card slot that enables memory expansion of up to 128GB. It packs a 6,700mAh battery, runs Xiaomi’s MIUI overlay, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and the usual run of sensors.

The MiPad will be available in China in June through a beta testing program. Xiaomi has yet to announce availability for the MiPad outside of China.
