This year we’ll see the new iPhone launching and perhaps even new iPad(s). According to KGI Securities’ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, every future mobile device Apple will have a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, helping the makers of this technology hit 120 million units shipped.

Mr. Kuo also noted that Cook & Co. will start using new chemicals for the production of the sensor module to enhance its durability. ASE and Sharp will reportedly handle the redistribution of the module, whereas Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing will carry the manufacturing duties.

KGI Research estimates Apple sold 36 million iPhone 5s units last year; next year, they predict that the number of Touch ID-enabled devices will hit 233 million.

As I’m writing this we’re still waiting for the iPad with Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
