What do you do when you’re competing with Amazon? Going to bed with world’s largest handset maker sounds like a plan, right? That’s exactly what Barnes & Noble is doing having unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook.
As you would imagine, this is the same Galaxy Tab 4 Samsung is already offering, though with few software modifications added on B&N’s behalf. These modifications are there to provide users with “easy access to Barnes & Noble’s expansive digital collection of more than three million books, leading magazines, and newspapers.” Or that at least is what B&N wants us to believe.
The press release doesn’t tell us a thing about the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook’s price, but we’re guessing it won’t cost more than $200 sans any string attached. This is likely a more affordable Wi-Fi-only model with its LTE variant launching at a later date. Or not, we can’t really tell.
Anyhow, while we see the benefits of teaming-up with Samsung, we’re not convinced that will help Barnes & Noble get its Nook business back on track. What do you think?
