Xiaomi ends the first half of 2014 with 26.1 million smartphones sold

Xiaomi is killing it, having ended the first half of the year with whopping 26.1 million smartphones sold! In comparison, during the entire 2013, the company has moved a total of 18.7 million phones. Talk about impressive growth.

Speaking of which [growth], this impressive half of the year has prompted Xiaomi to revise its figures for 2014; instead of 40 million, the “Apple of China” is now looking to ship 60 million devices. What’s more, they’re going for the round number next year, aiming to hit the 100 million phones and tablets shipped.

When it comes to revenues, sales in the first half amounted to CNY33 billion ($5.3 billion), up 149% compared to the same period last year. Profit details were unfortunately left out. We doubt they make a ton of money considering their low margins — Xiaomi is known for offering high-end phones for half the price.

In recent month, Xiaomi has been expanding its operations throughout fast growing countries of Asia, such as Singapore, Malaysia and India. Next year, however, we may see them going for customers in Europe and North America…
