Samsung is preparing to launch a successor to its Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8 phablets in the near future. We’ve already told you what this phone could be all about, and now we have few additional details to add to the pile.
According to the PhoneArena report, the upcoming Galaxy Mega 2 will level-up the entire field (of mid-range phablets), emerging as one of the first mobile device with a 64-bit chip. It won’t boast a high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 but an entry-level (for a 64-bit SoC, at least) Snapdragon 410 chip which has four cores clocked at 1.2GHz and an Adreno 306 GPU. In addition, we should expect a 5.9-inch 720p HD display, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and a pair of rather solid cameras. The main/rear camera will have a 12-megapixel sensor, while the one of the front will be able to “handle” 4.7 megapixels. Guess Samsung caved in to include a better front-facing camera to appeal to mobile users in Asia who can’t get enough selfies… or something of that sort.
Alas, we’re still clueless when the Galaxy Mega 2 will officially launch. For those who can’t wait, Samsung has recently launched the Galaxy Mega Plus, which is pretty much the Galaxy Mega 5.8 with a quad-core processor, most likely the Snapdragon 400. That model, however, is not widely available…
