What’s left for Xiaomi is to join the smart band revolution, led by the likes of Fitbit, Jawbone and few other players. And that’s exactly what they’re working on, according to the GizChina report (via mHealth Spot).

The company’s CEO has been caught while wearing the unidentified smart band, which many believe will be Xiaomi’s first such device. The rumor goes on to add that like many other products they’re making, this too will be an affordable device, costing as little as 199 Yuan (about $32) in China.

Xiaomi will also have to prepare some software that communicates with its smart band, and capture and analyze all the data its collects. Presuming they are indeed set on this [smart band] path, their developers are coding as we speak.

We don’t have the exact release date, nor when (or even whether) the rumored MiBand will hit other markets. Chances are it will also be available in few Asian countries, and then perhaps in 2015 – it may start selling in the Western hemisphere.

In the meantime, we expect to see their next flagship smartphone – the Xiaomi Mi3s. Hopefully, it will be announced alongside the MiBand (or that’s other way round).

All in all, I would say we need Xiaomi in the smart band market, what do you think?
