Oh Boy. Internet Prank Has People Microwaving Their iPhones Again

Thanks to a prank posted to the infamous 4Chan website, people are microwaving their brand new iPhones in an attempt to catch a quick battery charge. Baffling, I know. But the prank is pretty convincing..I guess? Take a look at it below.

Looks legit right? Well, it’s totally not. Apparently some people with little common sense actually tried this crazy charging method and guess what..it fried their phones.

The thing is, this isn’t the first time this kind of thing has happened. Back in January of 2013, a similar prank posted to a Japanese sit 2channel claimed that microwaving a iPhone 5 for 20 seconds would give the device a full battery charge. Obviously, the only thing the phony lifehack did was ruin a bunch of people’s iPhones.

Be careful folks, the internet is a treacherous place. And please don’t microwave your iPhone 6. Just plug it in.
