HTC is gearing towards launching a successor to its One M8 smartphone, according to rumors floating around the Interwebs.

These stories suggest that the next device in the Taiwanese company’s lineup, One M8 Eye, will boast a duo of 13-megapixel camera on the back, marking the end of HTC’s UltraPixel technology.

Said technology did deliver great photos, especially in low-light conditions, but some users complained about low megapixel count. By replacing the two UltraPixel cameras on the back with standard 13MP lenses, HTC stands a chance to come up with one of the best photo-taking smartphones, ever. For one thing, the dual camera setup allows for re-focusing, allowing users to focus their photos long after they’ve been taken.

The One M8 Eye will run Android 4.4.4 KitKat right from the get-go with HTC’s own Sense 6.0 software singing on top. If everything goes as planned, this unit will be unveiled at some point next month, enabling the company to benefit from the Christmas shopping craze. We’ll see how that goes…
