Yesterday, Archos unveiled its latest device at an event in Paris, France. Called Archos 50 Diamond, it’s a solid mid-ranger with specs that include a 5-inch full HD IPS screen, 16MP rear camera with LED flash, 8MP front-facing one, and Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 615 SoC. Said chip packs eight Cortex-A53 cores, four of which are clocked at 1.7GHz and another four at 1GHz.

There’s also 2GB of RAM, Cat.4 LTE connectivity (up to 150Mbps on the downlink), dual-SIM support, and a 2,700mAh battery. Android 4.4.4 KitKat will run the show right from the get-go. Size wise, the 50 Diamond measures 146 x 70.4 x 8 mm, and has a weight of 146 grams.

The best part is the price; when Archos’ baby launches in early 2015, it will be available for 200 EUR, making it one of the best phones (that) money could buy.

The French handset maker isn’t best known for its carrier connections and we’re not sure whether the 50 Diamond will be available from mobile operators. Chances are that in most countries users will have to get the SIM-free, unlocked device.
