Android 5.0 Lollipop Landing on South Korean LG G3 Units By Week’s End

Android 5.0 Lollipop will begin rolling out to LG G3 owners in South Korea later this week, LG confirmed today. LG G3 units on South Korea’s big carriers will get the sweet treat by the end of this week, or as Americans know it, Black Friday.

That’s great news for Korea, but what about the rest of the world? That’s going to take a bit longer. Typically, LG rolls out updates in South Korea first, with international models boarding the update train shortly thereafter. There is that whole messy process of carriers approving the software updates, which can take some time as well.

So when will North American and European G3 owners see Lollipop? Hopefully by early next year, maybe even by the end of 2014 for unlocked international variants. But if you’ve got a carrier branded unit, expect to wait a bit for Lollipop.
