Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its biggest smartphone yet. The company has officially revealed the design of the Xiaomi 17 Max, confirming it will arrive in China later this month in Black, Blue, and White color options.
The move signals Xiaomi’s push into the premium large-screen segment, where it will compete directly with Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra series and Apple’s iPhone Pro Max models. With flagship smartphones increasingly focusing on bigger displays and longer battery life, the 17 Max appears designed to capture users who prioritize screen real estate and all-day power.
The Xiaomi 17 Max will essentially be a supersized version of the regular Xiaomi 17, sharing the same overall design language. The phone features a flat display with a centered camera hole and thin, uniform bezels. The frame and back panel are both flat, while the camera island matches the design found on both the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Pro.
While Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed full specifications, leaked details suggest the phone will pack serious hardware. The rumored specs include:
- 6.9-inch 2K OLED display with adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor
- LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage
- Massive 8,000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging
- IP68 water and dust resistance
- In-display fingerprint scanner
The camera system is expected to be equally impressive, with a 200-megapixel main sensor using Samsung’s ISOCELL HP9 technology and optical image stabilization. This will likely be paired with a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens for long-range zoom shots.
The timing of this launch is significant for Xiaomi as the company looks to strengthen its position in the premium smartphone market. Large-screen phones have become increasingly popular, especially in markets like China where consumers use their phones for everything from gaming to productivity tasks. The rumored 8,000mAh battery would be among the largest in any mainstream flagship, addressing one of the biggest pain points for power users.
Xiaomi hasn’t announced the exact launch date yet, but with confirmation that it’s coming this month, an official announcement should arrive soon. The phone is expected to launch first in China before potentially expanding to global markets later in the year.
