Motorola is gearing up to launch the Edge 70 Max in India, and the company is already dropping hints about what makes it different. A teaser page on Flipkart has gone live, giving the first official look at the phone and confirming at least one standout feature: magnetic wireless charging.
As reported by Notebookcheck, the teaser shows the Edge 70 Max next to what looks like a magnetic wireless charger, with the phrase “max magnetic power” used prominently. The phone has already cleared WPC certification with Qi 2.2.1 support, which confirms the magnetic charging is real and not just marketing language.
That matters because Qi2 on Android is still relatively rare. The standard was originally built around Apple’s MagSafe ecosystem, and most Android phones still rely on standard Qi charging without the magnetic alignment ring. Only a handful of Android devices currently support it, including the HMD Skyline and the Google Pixel 10 series. If Motorola pulls this off, the Edge 70 Max would be one of the most accessible entry points into that ecosystem.
The teaser image also shows a square rear camera module, which matches renders that leaked earlier. Motorola is also claiming a 46% improvement in NPU performance compared to a previous model, though the company hasn’t said which phone it’s comparing against. NPU improvements typically mean faster on-device AI processing for things like photo enhancement, voice recognition, and real-time translation.
Beyond the official teasers, leaks point to some strong specs under the hood:
- Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset
- 50MP Sony camera sensor
- Qi 2.2.1 magnetic wireless charging
Nothing beyond that has been confirmed. Pricing, battery size, display specs, and software details are all still unknown. It’s also unclear whether the Edge 70 Max will launch outside India.
The Edge 70 Max sits at the top of Motorola’s Edge 70 lineup, which also includes the standard Edge 70, Edge 70 Fusion, Edge 70 Pro, and Edge 70 Pro Plus. Motorola has been steadily expanding its mid-range and upper-mid-range presence in India, where it competes closely with brands like Samsung, Realme, and OnePlus. A Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip in this lineup would push it firmly into flagship territory, at least on paper.
A full launch date hasn’t been announced yet, but the Flipkart listing suggests it’s coming soon.
