Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series is selling faster than the company expected, and the numbers back that up. The lineup is already the fastest-selling Samsung smartphone series in South Korea, and the company has now moved to increase production to keep pace with demand.
According to SamMobile, a report from ETNews claims Samsung raised its Galaxy S26 production target for July from 1 million units to 1.5 million units. That is a 50% jump in a single month, driven by sales that came in well above the company’s own projections.
Two factors appear to be pushing buyers to act now. First, Samsung ran an aggressive promotional event in South Korea called the “Samsung Electronics Appreciation Festival With The People,” which offered a 20% refund in the form of Digital Onnuri Gift Certificates. That deal sent Galaxy S26 sales up threefold through retailers like 11th Street and Coupang. Second, ongoing memory chip shortages have consumers worried that prices could rise in the coming months, giving people a reason to buy sooner rather than later.
The demand is visible in real terms. On Samsung’s own online store, delivery estimates for Galaxy S26 phones have already shifted to August. That kind of delay is a clear sign that stock is not keeping up with orders. Samsung is expected to review August’s production targets once it gets a clearer picture of how July’s sales numbers land.
This matters beyond just one product cycle. Samsung has been under sustained pressure from Apple and Chinese rivals like Xiaomi and Huawei. A strong Galaxy S26 performance gives the company both momentum and some breathing room heading into the second half of 2026. It also suggests that the combination of Snapdragon performance and aggressive pricing strategy is working.
The Galaxy S26 selling at roughly twice the pace of the Galaxy S25 in South Korea is a notable benchmark. South Korea is Samsung’s home market, so performance there tends to reflect brand loyalty at its peak. Outperforming the S25 by that margin points to genuine product improvement rather than just a loyalty effect.
Samsung’s timing is also worth noting. The company is preparing to announce its next foldable lineup later this month, including:
- The Galaxy Z Fold 8, which will be Samsung’s first widescreen book-style foldable
- The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, expected to run a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 series processor
- The Galaxy Z Flip 8, which could be the last model in the Flip lineup
Both the Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra are expected to compete with Apple’s first-generation iPhone Ultra later this year. Pre-orders are likely to open shortly after the announcement. How Samsung manages inventory for those devices, especially if Galaxy S26 demand continues to strain supply chains, will be something to watch closely.
