Xiaomi 18 Pro specs leak: Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, massive battery, and a triple camera setup

Xiaomi’s next flagship is shaping up to be one of the most spec-heavy Android phones of the year. A fresh leak has surfaced with details about the Xiaomi 18 Pro, pointing to a powerful chipset, a big battery, and a camera system built to compete at the top end of the market. The phone hasn’t been officially announced yet, but the leaks are coming in fast.

According to Gadgets360, the Xiaomi 18 Pro is expected to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, the next generation of Qualcomm’s top-tier mobile chip. That alone puts it in the same conversation as other 2025 flagship Android phones expected to carry the same processor.

Xiaomi has been one of the more aggressive players in the premium Android space over the past few years. The Xiaomi 14 Pro and 15 Pro both earned strong reviews for their camera performance and build quality, and the company has shown it’s willing to push hardware specs further than most. The 18 Pro, if these leaks hold up, looks like a continuation of that trend.

Here’s what the leak suggests for the Xiaomi 18 Pro:

  • Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite 2
  • Display: 2K resolution with a privacy display mode
  • Battery: 6,100mAh with fast charging support
  • Rear cameras: Triple setup, with a 50-megapixel main sensor

The privacy display feature is worth noting. It’s not something you see often on Android phones, and it suggests Xiaomi may be targeting professional users who want more control over who can see their screen in public spaces. Samsung has offered something similar on select Galaxy devices, so Xiaomi would be entering familiar but still relatively niche territory.

On the camera side, a triple 50-megapixel setup would be a step up in consistency across all three lenses, rather than the usual approach of pairing a high-resolution main sensor with lower-resolution ultrawide and telephoto cameras. Whether that translates to better real-world photos depends on the sensor sizes, optics, and software processing, none of which have leaked in detail yet.

The battery capacity, reported at 6,100mAh, is notably larger than what most flagship phones carry right now. For context, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 4,685mAh battery, and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra comes in at around 5,000mAh. If Xiaomi can pair that capacity with efficient fast charging, it could address one of the most common complaints about premium smartphones: that they don’t last long enough under heavy use.

Separately, leaks around the higher-end Xiaomi 18 Pro Max have also suggested even bigger specs, including dual 200-megapixel rear cameras and an 8,500mAh battery. That model appears to be a step above the standard Pro, though details remain thin. The standard Xiaomi 18 has also reportedly appeared in the GSMA database under the codename ‘Madrid’, suggesting the whole lineup is moving closer to launch.

One interesting detail from earlier leaks: the Xiaomi 18 Pro may actually launch before the standard Xiaomi 18, which would be unusual. Typically, companies lead with the base model and follow up with Pro variants. If Xiaomi flips that order, it signals confidence in the Pro as the headline device, and possibly that the standard model needs more time in development.

No official launch date has been confirmed. Xiaomi typically announces its flagship lineup in the final months of the year, so a late 2025 reveal seems likely. Until then, treat all of this as early signal rather than confirmed fact.
