Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold shows up at the FCC ahead of August launch

Google’s next foldable phone is getting closer to release. A device carrying the model number GZDQ6 has appeared in the FCC’s database, and based on previous leaks, that number points to the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The filing includes an image that appears to show a foldable form factor, adding more weight to that identification.

According to Android Authority, the FCC documents confirm several connectivity options for the device. The listing shows support for Bluetooth LE, LTE, Ultra-wideband, NFC, and Thread. It also confirms the phone will be hearing aid compatible, which is a regulatory requirement Google needs to clear before any commercial sale in the United States.

FCC appearances like this one are a reliable sign that a product is close to launch. Companies typically submit these filings only when a device is nearing its release window, so the timing here lines up cleanly with Google’s confirmed August 12 event, where the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is expected to make its official debut alongside the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Pro XL.

Beyond what the FCC filing reveals, earlier leaks have filled in more of the picture. Here is what is currently expected from the Pixel 11 Pro Fold:

  • A minimum battery capacity of 4,658mAh
  • Two RAM options: 12GB and 16GB
  • A 1,080×2,342 OLED outer display with a 60-120Hz refresh rate
  • A 2,076×2,160 OLED inner display with a 1-120Hz refresh rate

The foldable phone market has grown steadily over the past few years, and Google has been one of the more consistent players in it. The original Pixel Fold launched in 2023, followed by the Pixel 9 Pro Fold in 2024. Each generation brought the hardware closer to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold line, which has long set the benchmark for Android foldables. With the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Google will be looking to keep pace in a segment that now also includes competition from OnePlus, Motorola, and Honor.

Thread support is worth noting specifically. Thread is a low-power mesh networking protocol designed for smart home devices, and its inclusion signals Google’s intent to position the Pixel 11 Pro Fold as a central hub for connected home ecosystems. Google already builds Thread support into its Nest products, so adding it to the phone creates a more integrated experience for users already in that ecosystem.

With the August 12 launch date now public and the FCC filing in the books, the remaining unknowns are pricing, availability, and whatever software features Google plans to highlight. Those details will almost certainly surface in the weeks leading up to the event.
