Samsung has started rolling out the fourth One UI 9.0 beta update for the Galaxy S26 lineup, just a week after the company announced the release schedule. The update is currently live in India, with South Korea and other markets expected to follow shortly.
This is a meaningful step forward in Samsung’s testing cycle for Android 17-based One UI 9. Beta 4 typically signals that the software is getting close to a stable release, with the focus shifting from adding features to squashing bugs and tightening up performance. That pattern holds here, as this update is primarily about fixes rather than anything new.
The update applies to all three models in the current flagship lineup: the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. All three are getting the same firmware version, S948BXXU4ZZG4, at a file size of around 1.25GB. Along with bug fixes and likely performance improvements, it also includes the July 2026 security patch.
If your Galaxy S26 is already enrolled in the One UI 9.0 Beta Program, getting the update is straightforward:
- Open Settings on your phone
- Go to Software update
- Tap Check for updates
- Once downloaded, tap Install now
- Your phone will restart to complete the installation
The broader context here is worth noting. Samsung is clearly pushing to have One UI 9 polished and ready before the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 launch later this year. The company has historically used its foldable launch window as the moment to push stable One UI updates out to flagships, and there’s no reason to expect that to change. One or two more beta builds could still land before that happens, but the timeline is tightening.
For Galaxy S26 owners who have been living with earlier beta builds, this update should make daily use noticeably smoother. Monthly security patches also matter more than they sometimes get credit for, particularly as Android devices increasingly handle sensitive tasks like mobile payments and two-factor authentication.
