Most tablets treat audio as an afterthought, slapping a couple of stereo drivers on the side and calling it a day. Motorola went and stuffed a full JBL Pro Speaker System into this thing, and if it actually sounds as good as it looks on paper, this could be the most fun mid-range tablet launched in India this year.
According to Gizmochina, the Moto Pad 70 Groove is officially here, priced at Rs 33,999 with a Rs 3,000 instant bank discount off the regular Rs 36,999 price tag. It goes on sale August 7 through Flipkart, Motorola India, and retail stores nationwide.
So what do you actually get for that money? The speaker setup alone is worth talking about. Nine units total: four tweeters, three woofers, and two passive radiators, all with Dolby Atmos support. The tablet can also work as a standalone Bluetooth speaker, which is a genuinely useful trick. That’s not a gimmick — that’s real value, especially for people who want one device that pulls double duty in a living room or bedroom setup.
The display is a 12.1-inch LCD with 2.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10, DCI-P3 color coverage, and up to 800 nits in high brightness mode. For streaming and casual content, that’s a solid screen. It’s not OLED, so if deep blacks are your priority, temper your expectations. But for most people watching YouTube or Netflix, this panel is going to look great.
Battery life is another strong point. The 10200mAh cell supports 45W TurboPower charging, and Motorola claims 15 hours of YouTube playback on a full charge. Ten minutes of charging should get you two hours of use, which is the kind of stat that actually matters when you’re in a rush.
The software story is genuinely impressive for this price. The Pad 70 Groove ships with Android 16 and is confirmed to get Android 17 and Android 18, plus four years of security patches. That’s longer support than you see from a lot of brands at this price point, and it matters. A tablet you can actually keep for three or four years without it feeling abandoned is a much smarter buy.
The design is all-metal in a color called Pantone Blue Surf, measures 6.8mm thin, and weighs 775 grams. And then there’s the 360-degree Kickstand 2.0, which has four named positions: Lean, Stand, Theatre, and Hanging. A built-in kickstand on a tablet is still rarer than it should be, and having multiple angles built right in means you’re not constantly hunting for a case or stand.
Other specs include a 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, dual microphones, USB-C, and a protective case included in the box. The single configuration is 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
The mid-range tablet market in India is getting crowded fast, with options from Samsung, Xiaomi, and Realme all fighting for the same buyers. What Motorola is doing with the Pad 70 Groove is leaning into entertainment in a way the others haven’t quite matched. Nine speakers and a proper kickstand is a specific pitch to a specific buyer, and it’s a pretty convincing one.

If you’re in the market for a media-first tablet under Rs 35,000, this one deserves serious consideration. The audio setup alone sets it apart from almost everything else at this price. Just don’t expect flagship-level processing or an OLED panel, and you’ll probably be very happy with what you get.
