Samsung’s August 2026 security update finally hits the Galaxy S24 series in Europe

It’s the last day of August, and Samsung is basically sprinting to the finish line. The August 2026 security patch is only now landing on Galaxy S24 devices in Europe, which tells you everything you need to know about how this month’s update cycle went for Samsung fans.

According to SamMobile, the update covers all three models in the lineup: the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The firmware version is S92xBXXS6DZH2, and you’re looking at a download of over 400MB. The exact size varies slightly between models, so don’t be surprised if your number looks a little different from your friend’s.

So why does this matter? Security patches aren’t the flashiest updates, but they’re actually one of the most important things Samsung does for its users. These patches fix real vulnerabilities that could expose your personal data, your banking apps, your photos. Skipping them or delaying them isn’t a great look for a flagship device. The Galaxy S24 series sits at the top of Samsung’s phone lineup, and those buyers expect timely updates. Rolling out a monthly patch on the literal last day of the month is not exactly confidence-inspiring.

Samsung has been leaning hard on its update promise as a selling point in recent years, committing to seven years of OS and security updates for flagship devices. That’s a strong commitment on paper. But the value of that promise depends entirely on how consistently Samsung follows through. A patch that arrives on August 31st still technically counts for August. Still, it’s worth watching whether this lateness becomes a pattern.

If you’re in Europe and want to grab the update now, here’s what to do:

  • Open the Settings app on your Galaxy S24
  • Scroll down and tap “Software update”
  • Tap “Check for updates” and follow the prompts
  • Make sure your battery is at least 30% before starting the install

If you’re outside Europe, the rollout should reach other regions within the next few days. Keep checking your settings, because waiting for a push notification isn’t always the fastest way to get there.
