Dual USB-C ports on a tablet sounds like a minor spec sheet detail, but Acer is doing something genuinely interesting with them. One port is purely for video output, so you can mirror what’s on screen to a larger display. The other handles charging and data. It’s a small thing, but it shows that Acer is at least thinking about how people actually use these devices. And honestly, that kind of practical thinking is what makes or breaks a mid-range tablet.
As reported by Android Headlines, Acer showed off all four tablets at IFA 2026 on September 2. The lineup includes the Iconia X16, Iconia X14, Iconia A16, and Iconia A14. The X series sits at the premium end, the A series targets budget buyers, and Acer says the whole lineup is built for education and entertainment.
What these tablets actually have under the hood
Here’s the thing that raises an eyebrow: all four tablets run on the MediaTek Helio G80. Every single one. That’s the same chip whether you’re buying the top-of-the-line X16 or the entry-level A14. The G80 is a competent processor for everyday tasks, but calling the X series “premium” while it shares a chipset with the budget models is a bit of a stretch.
All four tablets also ship with Android 16 out of the box, which is a genuine plus. Nobody wants to buy a new device and immediately deal with a major update.
Where the X series actually earns its premium label
The Iconia X16 and X14 do separate themselves from the A series in one meaningful way: OLED displays. Both premium models get 1,920 x 1,200 OLED panels, which means better contrast, deeper blacks, and more vivid color compared to the standard screens on the A16 and A14. The A series shares the same 1,920 x 1,200 resolution, but without OLED, the viewing experience will be noticeably different side by side.
Battery life ratings are the same across all four models. So if you’re choosing between the X and A series, the display technology is the main thing you’re paying up for.
Each series also gets its own color option:
- Iconia X16 and X14: Matte Black
- Iconia A16 and A14: Vapor Silver
Pricing is still a mystery, but here’s a reasonable guess
Acer hasn’t dropped any pricing details yet, which is frustrating. But looking at current Acer tablet prices gives a rough idea. The Iconia X12 sells for $600 right now. The Iconia A13 is $200. Based on that, the X16 and X14 could land at $600 or above, while the A series might stay under $250.
But there’s a catch. RAM and storage costs have gone up across the board, and Acer may price these higher than its previous generations to cover that. So don’t be shocked if the A series creeps closer to $300 or the X models push past $650.
Why this actually matters
The Android tablet market is more crowded than it’s been in years. Samsung is pushing premium hard, Xiaomi is making noise with its own silicon, and budget brands are undercutting everyone. Acer positioning itself with both a premium and entry-level offering at the same time is a smart play. It covers more ground and gives retailers options at different price points heading into the holiday season.
All four tablets are expected to arrive in Q4 2026 in North America and the EMEA region. No exact date yet. But if the pricing lands where it should, the A series in particular could be a solid pick for students or anyone who wants a capable Android tablet without spending Samsung money.
