Infinix Hot 70 Pro 5G is launching September 4 with a rear display that syncs to your music

A rear display that reacts to music, a color that changes with temperature, and a price tag that could land under Rs 25,000. The Infinix Hot 70 Pro 5G is shaping up to be one of the more interesting budget phones of the year, and it drops in India on September 4.

Infinix has already revealed most of what buyers can expect before the official launch, which is a smart move. There’s genuine buzz around this one, and for good reason. Budget 5G phones have gotten pretty predictable. Same rectangular slab, same camera bump, same color options. The Hot 70 Pro is at least trying something different.

The big talking point is the Active Matrix Cube, a secondary display built into the back of the phone. It’s not just decorative. It can show incoming calls, messages, charging status, weather updates, camera alerts, and countdown timers. You can also set it to display custom patterns and emojis, and it has lighting effects that sync with whatever music or game you’re running. That last part sounds like a gimmick on paper, but if Infinix executes it well, it could genuinely be useful. A glanceable rear screen that shows you call info without flipping your phone over? That actually has practical value.

The design overall is doing a lot of work. At 7.85mm thin, it’s a slim phone for this price range. The four color options are where it gets interesting. Thermo Orange physically changes its look based on temperature, and Mirage Green glows under UV light. Silk Glow Purple and Dive Blue round out the lineup. These aren’t just marketing names either, the heat-reactive and UV-reactive finishes are real tech tricks that other brands charge significantly more for.

Here’s a quick look at what the Hot 70 Pro 5G is bringing to the table:

  • Active Matrix Cube rear display for notifications, weather, and music sync
  • Thermo Orange finish that reacts to temperature changes
  • Mirage Green finish that glows under UV light
  • 7.85mm slim profile
  • 5G connectivity
  • Expected pricing below Rs 25,000 (around $265)

That price point matters. The sub-Rs 25,000 segment in India is one of the most competitive spaces in mobile right now. Realme, Poco, Samsung, and Motorola are all throwing solid hardware at buyers in this range. For Infinix to stand out, it needs something beyond raw specs. The rear display and the reactive finishes are exactly that kind of differentiator. Whether buyers actually want those things is the real question, but at least it’s a clear identity.

Infinix has been steadily building credibility in the Indian market over the past couple of years, moving from pure budget territory into a space where it can compete on features and not just price. The Hot series has always been its volume driver. If the Hot 70 Pro can hold its own on core performance while delivering these extras, it could be a genuinely compelling buy. Final pricing hasn’t been confirmed yet, but September 4 isn’t far off. We’ll know soon enough if this one delivers or just looks good in a press release.
