A 185Hz refresh rate on a smartphone display sounds almost excessive. And yet, here we are. A fresh leak from well-known tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed what appears to be the OnePlus Ace 7, a phone that reads more like a spec sheet from a hardware enthusiast’s wishlist than a real product. But it’s real, or at least real enough to be in prototype form.
The leak doesn’t actually name the device, but the context makes a pretty strong case for the Ace 7 label. Last year, OnePlus released the Ace 6 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite and the Ace 6T with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Following that same pattern, two new phones are apparently in the pipeline: one running the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6, likely the Ace 7T, and the one leaked here, running the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which would make it the Ace 7. It lines up cleanly.
So what’s actually on the spec sheet? The Ace 7 is said to come with a 6.78-inch flat OLED panel at 1.5K resolution and that eye-catching 185Hz refresh rate. For comparison, most flagships top out at 120Hz, and even gaming-focused phones rarely push past 165Hz. Whether you actually notice the difference at that level is debatable, but OnePlus is clearly gunning for a crowd that wants the highest number possible.
The camera setup is equally aggressive. On the back, you’re looking at a 200-megapixel main shooter paired with a 50-megapixel secondary camera. The front gets a 16-megapixel selfie camera. OnePlus hasn’t been shy about chasing high megapixel counts in the Ace line, and 200MP puts it in the same conversation as some of Samsung’s Galaxy S Ultra territory. Whether the actual image quality backs up those numbers is another story entirely, and that’s something we’d want to test before getting too excited.
One detail that really stands out is the mention of an active cooling fan inside the device. That’s not something you see in most phones, and it signals pretty clearly that OnePlus is positioning the Ace 7 as a performance-first, gaming-oriented phone. Phones like the ASUS ROG and Xiaomi Black Shark series have used active cooling for years, so OnePlus entering that space more directly makes sense as gaming on mobile continues to grow. It also helps justify the high refresh rate display.

No pricing or availability has been confirmed yet, but the Ace 6 launched in October alongside the OnePlus 16 last year. If history repeats, the Ace 7 could show up on the same schedule, which means we might not be too far away from an official reveal. OnePlus has also been teasing the OnePlus 16 with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip for around the same time frame, so October is shaping up to be a busy month for the brand.
Still, take all of this with a grain of salt. These are leaked specs from an engineering prototype, and things change between prototype and production. But Digital Chat Station has a strong track record, and the details here are specific enough to feel credible. If OnePlus actually delivers on a 185Hz OLED, a 200MP camera system, and active cooling at a competitive price point, the Ace 7 could be one of the more interesting mid-to-high-end releases of late 2026.
