Samsung didn’t waste much time. After dropping the stable One UI 9.0 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in South Korea and the US, the company is already pushing it out to more markets. India is one of the first countries outside those two to get it, which is a pretty big deal for Samsung’s growing foldable fanbase there.
According to SamMobile, the rollout is currently live for devices enrolled in the beta program. The update for the Z Fold 6 weighs in at 468.43MB and carries firmware version F956BXXU4EZIH. If your device isn’t on the beta program yet, don’t stress. Samsung should open it up to everyone else shortly.
To check if it’s available on your device, just head to Settings, then Software Update, then Check for Updates. Simple as that.
So what does One UI 9.0 actually bring? Based on Android 17, this update is more than just a version number bump. The changes that stand out most include deeper Quick Panel customization, improvements to Samsung DeX and Samsung Notes, a new location privacy indicator, and fresh AI features baked in throughout the software. That’s a solid list. Not every update actually moves the needle, but this one looks like it does.
Here’s why this matters beyond just the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. Samsung has been under real pressure to deliver consistent, timely software updates across its foldable lineup. Foldables are still a premium product category where buyers expect the full experience, including software that keeps up. A fast, stable rollout like this one builds trust and gives Samsung something concrete to point at when people ask whether the foldable ecosystem is worth buying into.
The bigger picture is that One UI 9.0 going global quickly also signals Samsung is tightening up its update cadence. That’s good news for anyone who owns or is considering a Galaxy foldable. Better software support over time means better long-term value, and that’s the kind of thing that actually moves purchase decisions.
