Specifically, we are talking about the sales surge experienced by ZTE, which has soared up by over 350% in the last 6 months of this year (H1 2009). In real numbers that’s about 7 million units, which apparently leads all the other manufacturers. Just as a comparison ZTE did 10 million units in the whole of 2008.
That’s a fairly incredible growth rate and sales volume I have to say, so Congrats to ZTE. The only question in my mind is who the other big players are and what their numbers look like – because all the broadband modems that I have either had or looked at recently have been Huawei devices!
Anyway, given the (very) recent trend by the mobile operators to start pushing 7.2Mbps-capable cards (as oppose to their 3.6Mbps predecessors), I suppose we can expect that strong growth in sales to continue, as people upgrading their dongles, contribute to the rising numbers.
