Researchers at Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute have developed a hydrogen-powered mobile phone charger, which can recharge a conventional mobile phone battery in two hours, and which is planed to enter manufacturing phase at some point in 2012.
Commenting on the breakthrough technology, Tsau Fanghei, a researcher at the institute, said: “Hydrogen is a recyclable material. The device is energy-efficient and will help protect the environment. We will continue to improve the invention. We hope the hydrogen-powered device can replace current cell phone recharge systems in 2012.”
Great thing, now the only problem is that we have to wait for 3 more years to see this kind of charger hit the marketplace. 🙁
