For those of you that don’t know him (and there might be a lot, since he’s a UK chef) Jamie Oliver is a celebrity chef, in the same sort of mould as the likes of Gordon Ramsay – and by that, I mean he’s an export that has filmed his TV shows in the US, and a number of other countries I’m sure!
Anyhoo, the point of this quick hands-on is to find out if his new cooking App is any good (hint/spoiler: yes)!

One of the first things you’ll notice about the Jamie App (as I’m going to call it) is the videos – there’s one when you open the App (see pic), and then plenty of reference vids in the App, for skillz such as knife sharpening:

So what else about from Jamie and his cockney accent do you get? Well, how about a stack of recipes that you can conjure up in 20 mins? And not just simple recipe text, oh no – you get breakdowns by summary, ingredients, and steps to construct the meal – hell, it will even give you a shopping list! One thing that is immediately apparently though is that this thing hasn’t been rushed – someone has taken a long time to think through how the App should work, and put some really extensive work in to the graphics i.e. look ‘n’ feel. Check out this screenshot for an example:
So all in all I’d highly recommend this App, because it thoroughly ticks all boxes necessary to earn it the status of a good, value for money App – and speaking of money, this App weighs in at £4.99 – which I think is quite a lot for an App generally, but this is well worth it – I’d pay double that just to be able to toggle the narrative voice on and off – but fortunately I don’t have to – there’s a setting for that 🙂
