HTC may not have announced an official launch window for their latest and greatest smartphones – the HTC Desire, Legend, and HD Mini – the folks over at Amazon UK have posted their own expected launch date. According to the online retailer, the Legend and Desire headliners are “expected” to go live in the UK on April 1, with the HD Mini following up a couple weeks later on April 14. That’s good news for our British counterparts, but where does that leave US fans longing for the Legend’s aluminum unibody or the Desire’s superphone features?
Well, the April 1 launch window could hint at a US launch following a few months later, which would put the trio of new HTC devices on target for a holiday shopping season rush. As for price, as Engadget notes, the the price tags on these smartphones have been getting heavier as they move west. The Desire will hit Amazon UK at £528 ($795), with the Legend commanding a £400 ($602) price tag, and the HD Mini coming in at £369 ($556). Still, with the subsidy model still going strong in the US, we’re not expecting to see any of these handsets hitting AT&T, Sprint or Verizon with a price-point higher than a few hundred dollars (with new 2-year contract).
Whatever the launch date turns out to be, we’re (cautiously) looking forward to seeing the Desire go to AT&T and the Legend going to Sprint.
