If you’re not quite feeling the graphite-colored HTC Desire that has been making the rounds for the past few months, we’ve got some potentially good news for you. The folks at xda-developers have posted up a pic of an HTC Desire with a Silver color scheme. It’s not yet known if this color will be available when the handset goes live later this year, but it’s nice to see an alternative color combo on the Nexus One-esque Desire.
The HTC Desire looks and feels a lot like the Google Nexus One. HTC manufactured the Nexus One for Google, after all, so it makes sense that the headlining Android smartphones bears a striking resemblance to each other. The Desire takes the N1’s Android-flavored recipe and adds its own Sense UI on top of the homescreen. It also replaces the N1’s trackball with a surprisingly accurate and usable optical trackpad. All other specs are presumably unchanged – that’s usually how it works with color variants of the same device.
AT&T is so far rumored to be picking up the HTC Desire this year, so it’s possible that the Silver Desire will be headed to Big Blue’s stable. It’s also possible that this particular variant will never see the light of day. Either way, we’ll be keeping a close eye on AT&T and their Nexus One/Desire aspirations.
