EVO 4G may hit in June, hotspot will cost $10 or $20 per month

If you’re still drooling over the EVO 4G, you may not have to wait long because tipsters told Engadget that the super smartphone could be heading for a mid-June release.

This is in line with the “summer” window Sprint announced at CTIA and these tipsters also said that the WiMax access may not be that much more per month. There are signs that in order to use the 4G as a mobile hotspot for up to eight devices, you’ll have to pay an extra $10 to $20 a month. If Sprint somehow manages to retain its Simply Everything prices and has a nominal fee for the hotspot, I’d be very impressed. Still, $10 more a month for just WiMax access would still be reasonable in my book.

I don’t think customers will mind paying a little extra per month for the hotspot because 4G can be demonstrably better than 3G. There might be some pricing pressure because Verizon is making its webOS hotspot ability free. Check out our hands-on video we captured at CTIA below.
