T-Mobile USA announced a new Android-powered smartphone – Garminfone. As you can guess for yourself, the focus of this all-touchscreen device is navigation, powered by Garmin’s award-winning software.
All of the standard features Garmin devices have are present in the Garminfone as well — including driving, walking and public transportation navigation with voice and on-screen directions and automatic re-routing. In addition, the handset integrates text-to-speech technology to speak street names, pre-loaded North American maps, geo-tagging, and an additional Garmin travel apps for checking real-time traffic, local events, movie listings, gas prices and so on.
Specs wise, the Garminfone sports:
- 3.5-inch (capacitive?) touchscreen
- HSPA connectivity
- GPS receiver
- 3-megapixel camera with auto-focus
- WiFi
- Bluetooth 2.1
- Push-email support (Microsoft Exchange)
- Social networking and IM clients
