TD-LTE is a form of LTE technology you’re not going to be hearing much of in the USA or Europe, or even most parts of Asia. It’s meant for China, a country that has more than 776 million mobile subscribers, or more than 2 mobile phones for every man woman and child in the United States of America. Nokia Siemens, eager to get contracts from China Mobile, is testing their equipment over there and their latest test proves that their TD-LTE equipment has no problem talking to a prototype, end user Samsung TD-LTE USB modem; the type of device you usually plug into the side of your laptop.

No details were given as to what speeds were achieved, how many base stations were involved in testing, or any of the juicy details, but hey, they proved it worked, and that’s enough to green light a project.
