T-Mobile introduces new USB charging options

T-Mobile has introduced a few new micro USB charging solution for mobile phones that can charge your phone from 20% to 50 % faster than others, all of which sport an extra USB port for charging an additional device . There are three options to choose from, a wall, car, and a 2-in-1 charger that does both!

It’s great to see that the new chargers can charge up to 50% faster than regular chargers. The charging rate may vary, as it depends on what kind of phone you have. If you have a smartphone, it may charge a little slower, but in either case, a guarantee of at least a 20% faster charge is good enough for me. The charger also features a ‘high-efficiency’ LED light, which provides a visual prompt to unplug the charger when it’s not in use. Smart. While it’s not a nice as AT&T’s Zero charger that shuts off when it’s not in use, T-Mobile’s chargers are sure to please.

Another very welcomed feature included with the new chargers is an extra USB port, which will allow one to attach another device to the same charger. That’s one less wire to have to bring along with you when you’re on the go, and we’re pretty happy to see this added perk.

And, speaking of wires, all of these new chargers feature a wind-up cord that conveniently retracts back inside the charger when not in use. The charger itself was also designed to reduce stress on the cord, which can in turn can extend the lifespan of the charger.

Are we excited for this? Yes, very much so. T-Mobile is looking to standardize their entire handset lineup to start using micro USB ports, ensuring the new chargers will be compatible. The new chargers are only available online, and in select T-Mobile stores right now, but a nationwide availability of the products can be expected on July 19th. Prices of both the wall charger and the car charger will cost you $30, and the 2-in-1 charger will run you $40. While not the cheapest, for what the new products offer, it’s worth the money. Let’s hope these chargers are as good as they seem to be, and won’t kill you.
