Samsung’s three-part Behold 2 ad series = funny/bad

Remember the first Samsung Behold 2 commercial? Well, a couple of months after it’s November release, Samsung released its first TV ad for their Android-powered Behold 2. A comic book artist then drew inspiration through the things around him, taking pictures, and then names. Now, Samsung has added a three part ad series for their Behold 2 on YouTube, which are funny, annoying and ridiculous all at the same time.

It still surprises me why Samsung is even pushing this device. I owned the Behold 2 for about two weeks, and returned it because the UI just has too much bulk to it, and TouchWiz is just a really bad idea for Android. Samsung butchered Android, even if they had the best of intentions. Home alternatives were too slow on the device, and I eventually switched to a MyTouch 3G.

What makes it more of a joke is their horrible/funny ads for the device. The ads get your attention, but in the end it looks like they are just making fun of themselves. After watching the new ads, I’m not sure if I’m laughing because they are somewhat funny, or that it’s just so over the top. Who knows, the aim of the ads could just be to be ridiculous, but it’s still questionable as to whether or not the ads will make you want to go buy the device. The Behold 2 sports an amazing camera (better than any Android device I’ve ever used), which is the only good thing I can say about the device.

Still, we know there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Samsung has shown that they can make a great Android device without chopping the OS into little pieces and pasting it back together with their ugly UI overlay. As far as available devices, I’d take the Samsung Moment any day over the Behold 2. Why Samsung keeps making ads for the Behold 2 is beyond me. They should start advertising for the Galaxy S, and build some hype around the best smartphone they’ve ever made.

It’s going to be a very hard choice to make when all of these great, new Android devices start hitting the market. The Galaxy S with its Super AMOLED screen will be sure to please. Now all I have to do is wait for the device to actually make it to market, and see what comes of this Motorola Shadow we keep hearing about. If there’s any truth behind the rumored Galaxy S Pro, I would know exactly what device to get.

Whether or not you like the phone or hate it, check out the ad below and tell us what you think of the ads? Does it make you want to buy a bad phone because of a funny commercial? Or are the ads as underwhelming as the device it’s advertising?
