U.S. Cellular was teasing us on Facebook about an Android 2.1-powered Acclaim from Samsung, but wouldn’t provide any pictures; luckily, one has been dug up, revealing slide-out QWERTY keyboard and all. The Samsung Acclaim (R880), will pack a 3 megapixel camera, 3.2″ HVGA display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and what looks like an optical trackpad.
The Acclaim looks like it will be a nice, sharper follow-up to the Moment, which was also an Android slider from Samsung that floated around the mid-range, but ended up on Sprint. In fact, the specs and key layout are so similar, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Acclaim was just the Moment in new casing. In any case, we’re still expecting the it on U.S. Cellular in July, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the HTC Desire coming out around the same time.
