Aww, remember Wi-Fi Sync app for iPhone that totally blew our minds like woah? Basically, it fooled your computer into thinking your iPhone was plugged in via USB, and allowed music, contacts, and other items to synchronize over a shared local network. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi Sync won’t be making it to iTunes, and is finding its way into the Cydia jailbroken market for $9.99. What’s interesting about this particular rejection is that the app doesn’t “technically break the rules”; Apple just doesn’t like people screwing around with the iTunes syncing relationship with the iPhone. Although there are some associated security concerns that sort of make sense, situations like this just remind me why I prefer just about any other mobile platform to Apple’s.
Head on over to Wi-Fi Sync’s site for more info.
