Call it What You Want, TELUS Is Launching the HTC Desire/Triumph Soon

TELUS HTC Desire... or Triumph?

Color me confused. All of us around here were under the impression that the HTC Desire would make its way to Canadian shores via TELUS, known as the HTC Triumph. Same device, different name.

Today, a screenshot from TELUS’ systems seems to indicate otherwise. As you can see in the shot above, the HTC Desire is clearly itemized in an inventory shot. Could this mean the ‘Triumph’ name is a no-go? Hard to say. Could be that ‘Desire’ was entered into their systems at first, with a name change coming up later. But really, when all is said and done, it’s just a name. As a big fan of the HTC Hero, this is one of the devices I have on my ‘watch list’ for the near future. If you dig HTC and Sense UI, the Desire/Triumph is going to be a solid purchase.

Key specs on the HTC Desire include:

  • Android 2.1 with Sense UI
  • 3.7? AMOLED touchscreen (480×800)
  • 1GHz Snapdragon processor
  • 5MP camera with flash and auto-focus
  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth

Look for TELUS to launch the Desire/Triumph sometime this summer (July-ish) with Android 2.1. An update to Android 2.2 should come down the pipe following release. For me to poop on.

Is this the HTC Triumph?
