Dell Streak Priced at $500 Unlocked, Coming to U.S. Next Month

At the D8 conference, Ron Garriques, President of Dell’s Communication Solutions announced that following the UK launch of the Android-powered Streak in the UK this week, we’ll be seeing it on U.S. shores in late July for $500 unlocked straight from Dell. AT&T will likely be picking it up, but there aren’t any specifics on how much they’ll be subsidizing the 5″ smartphone-tablet hybrid.

The Dell Streak, if you haven’t seen it, is pretty freakin’ sweet, and adventurously straddles two mobile computing categories. It’s shipping with Android 1.6 (to be upgraded to 2.2 later on), comes with a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and dual LED flash, forward-facing VGA conferencing camera, 5″ 800 x 480 display, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G, 512 MB of RAM, and a 1 GHz processor.

All those that have scoffed at the iPad, but are still slightly tickled by the idea of a tablet, I think will welcome the Dell Streak to North America with open arms.
