November 11, 2007 by Stefan Constantinescu - Leave a Comment

When CEO Olli Pekka Kallasvuo decided to call Nokia an internet company people around the world thought he was stark mad. With 1 in 3 mobile phones consistently being purchased quarter after quarter by consumers around the world, healthy margins even on low end devices and over 4 billion Euros in the bank, why would…

Video: The force comes to Finland, Nokia Lightsaber

November 11, 2007 by Stefan Constantinescu - 6 Comments

Someone named Graham Oldfield used the accelerometer API inside the Nokia N95 to create a lightsaber application which you can find here. Symbian Guru, Jedi Cadden, made a little video demoing this for us: As useless as the application is, you can’t talk smack about Star Ware, especially you LoTR people.

November 10, 2007 by Will Park - 7 Comments

Pictures, as they say, are worth a thousand words. Videos, in that case, are priceless. The Nokia N82 is mere days away from its official launch and pictures of the highly-anticipated device have been flooding the interwebs. We love live pics as much as anyone, but videos are just so much better. So, without further…

Brief: Confirmed: Countdown timer on Nseries is for the Nokia N82

November 10, 2007 by Stefan Constantinescu - 1 Comment

Someone on Mobile Review (smart Russian hackers absolutely rock) decompiled the flash file which housed the countdown timer. The one line of code that gave it away: flash.external.ExternalInterface.call(“_hbPageview “, “n82_virtual_event”, “/Microsites/n82/virtual_event/”); That pretty much confirms that we’re only expecting one device, no surprises. Less than 90 hours to go!

Got an email asking me why the Nokia N95-3 Bronze is $80 more than the Black version. I never even knew a Bronze color existed, but here it is:  As for Eric, the answer is you pay more for the new color. People like exclusivity. Nokia, and every other maker of consumer goods, will often…

November 10, 2007 by Stefan Constantinescu - 3 Comments

Since I began blogging I got a lot of email from people thinking that I have some magical powers to fix their mobile phone just because I have a few friends at Nokia. This is not the case, please stop sending me emails, but recently I stumbled across a blog post that resonated all too…

Nokia Beta Labs has been busy these days and as a result Nokia smartphone owners can now grab two new applications for free. The first one is MOSH client, which allows you to use Nokia’s MOSH social networking service — upload, search, browse and check your stats — directly from your phone. Previously it was…
