During the Smartphone Show, Navicore (recent Symbian Platinum Partner) introduced the world’s smallest Bluetooth GPS receiver to accompany the latest version of its award-winning GPS navigation product, Navicore Personal 2007.
The design of the device is marked by its size (only 64 x 22 x 15 mm) and its weight (just 30g). Nevertheless, it doesn’t compromise on quality of the receiver or the performance of it.
The Navicore Bluetooth GPS receiver is powered by the SiRF Star III GPS chipset and offers users up to 8 hours of battery life in continuous use. The built-in battery can be charged easily by connecting the USB cable included in the package to a laptop, PC, or a cigarette lighter outlet.
The Navicore Bluetooth GPS receiver is compatible with all Navicore Personal products supporting the following platforms: Symbian S60, Series 80, UIQ 3 and Linux Internet Tablet OS 2006 Edition. Availability: November 2006.

Thanks to the Aving, we have the new photos of Samsung SGH-i520 Symbian OS HSDPA smartphone, which was released at the Symbian Smartphone Show 2006 held from October 17 to 18 in London, UK.
These are most likely the official Samsung’s photos. However, I was unable to find them on Samsung’s site. If someone happen to have more photos of this neat device, I would gladly put them on the site. In the meantime, see how slick & stylish this device actually is:

At the recent WiMAX technology conference in Boston, Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s representatives told the press that they will make the WiMAX capable mobile devices sometime during 2008. Roughly at the same time, Nokia rolled out a WiMAX-enabled version of its lightweight base station, previously used just for transmitting HSDPA and W-CDMA third-generation cellular signals.
Those of you who follow the telecom news, probably remember that Sprint (NYSE: S) Nextel announced last August its intention to make a 4 Mbps WiMAX network by the fourth quarter of next year.
It will be interesting to watch the developments surrounding WiMAX and other 4G technolgoies. And, even more interesting to see them integrated in the future smartphones. Full story.

The introduction of an enhanced security architecture in Symbian OS v9 has imposed constraints that have necessitated some minor changes in the structure of applications. These necessarily result in some changes to the structure and location of resource files involved in localization.
To address these issues, Symbian has prepared an article that outlines the measures required to localize your UIQ 3 applications. The underlying principles remain the same as for earlier versions, but the requirements of Platform Security necessitate some syntactical changes to the MMP and associated resource files. Download here.
