5500

Aleksei from Russia sent me pictures from his Nokia 5500 Sports Phone test. The pictures say more than a thousand words and I must say they are quite entertaining also :-) . If you care for your phone don´t try this!

Sand and dirt – No problem at all, but maybe we should wash the phone?

The phone was dropped into a bucket of milk. 30 seconds in low fat milk didn´t do any harm. According to Aleksei the phone received a call when lying in the milk and he noticed the tone was somewhat muffled :-) .

In the final test Aleksei drove a car over the phone.

i own a 5500 and have to report that the keypad membrane that forms a waterproof seal on the front of the phone has come unglued making it on open flap for the elements to enter. this has happened twice, first on the original and then again after having it replaced. and i have not even put to it thru extreme conditions like the russians, just everyday use. noone can explain it. it has happened to other people i know. maybe its the tropical climate in the philippines. but thats no excuse. this model fails to deliver on its primary feature – its being a weatherproof sports phone.

Philippines must be that humid! When they say water proof I assume they mean it in the sense that you can get it wet. I imagine living there you probably have a constant mist!

I also faced the same problem s xci has mentioned. top memebrane unglued with in few days of use (delicately used) and is very soft.
