OnePlus has quietly put up a “Coming Soon” banner for the Nord Buds 4 in India, confirming the standard sibling to the Nord Buds 4 Pro is on its way. The Pro model launched in March at ?3,999 ($42) with 55dB ANC and titanium-coated drivers.
The standard Nord Buds 4 will sit below the Pro model with an expected price around ?2,999 ($30), making it the budget entry point in OnePlus’s Nord audio lineup. Despite the lower price point, the earbuds pack surprisingly premium features that typically require higher spending.
According to reports, the Nord Buds 4 will feature a dual-driver setup with a 6mm tweeter paired with an 11mm woofer, plus dual DACs for enhanced audio processing. That’s more hardware than the standard tier usually gets. Dual-driver configurations in this price segment are rare since the combination of dedicated tweeter and woofer typically separates frequencies with more precision than single-driver designs.
The earbuds will also support LHDC 5.0 codec and 3D Spatial Audio for immersive listening. LHDC 5.0 is the same codec used in the Pro model, supporting up to 900kbps wireless audio transmission – significantly higher than standard SBC or AAC codecs. Getting this level of audio quality at the standard tier price represents genuine value for buyers who prioritize sound quality and have compatible source devices.
This aggressive feature set matters because the budget wireless earbuds market has become intensely competitive. Brands are pushing premium features down to lower price points to differentiate their products. OnePlus appears to be betting that superior drivers and codec support will help the Nord Buds 4 stand out in a crowded field of sub-$50 earbuds.
The standard model makes expected trade-offs to hit its lower price point. The Pro model’s 55dB ANC rating and titanium-coated 12mm drivers won’t carry over to the Nord Buds 4. The Pro also includes three microphones per bud, a volume slider on the stem, and a compact squircle case design.
The Nord Buds 4 teaser reveals a familiar in-ear silhouette with stem-based touch controls in a dark colorway. The exact case design and microphone configuration remain unconfirmed from available teaser materials.
The Nord Buds 4 is expected to launch alongside the OnePlus N6 smartphone later this month or in early July. Co-launching audio accessories with mid-range phones has become a standard OnePlus strategy. The N6 targets the same buyer demographic as the Nord Buds 4, making bundled offers or cross-promotion at launch likely.
The key question is whether the Nord Buds 4 can justify its ?2,999 price point against cheaper competitors. With dual drivers and LHDC 5.0 support, OnePlus has a credible answer for buyers seeking audio quality at budget pricing. The success will ultimately depend on real-world performance and how well the features translate to actual listening experience.
