One of the better videos I’ve seen recorded on a Nokia N93

Mark from the Nokia Blog looks like he invited a few friends over to play Jenga and recorded it. I was playing this with my friends last week, it is super addicting. Video weighs in a 7:42 long and really demonstrates how the Nokia N93 handles low light situations. Now he was kind enough to upload the video onto blip.tv in all of it’s 640×480 goodness (95 MB MOV file), as well as throw it up on youtube. If you take the time to exam both you can see that youtube just trashed the picture quality. This is partially youtube’s fault, and partially Nokia’s fault. I’ve seen videos that were stunning after being transcoded to flash, but then again the camera used was of greater quality. You put crap in, you get crap out, that’s simply what happens when you encode from one file format to another.

I really enjoy capturing videos with the Nokia N93 and editing with Final Cut afterwards. This phone has the potential to make anyone into a filmmaker. I’m starting to learn more about video editing as a hobby and I’m excited that the Nokia N93 makes it so much easier. Another video to add to my creations is captured during one of our game nights playing Jenga.

So all I have to ask Nokia is when are you going to increase the size of the lens? It lets more light in which in turn produces better quality videos.
