What if Nokia sold phones via vending machines?

Think about it for a second

  1. No need to purchase a building
  2. No need to hire employees
  3. Open 24/7
  4. If it flops it’s not like you lost a lot of money

What I’m trying to encourage handset makers to realize is that carriers are communists and the relationship needs to die a quick death. Guillotine?

What sparked me to ask this question?

Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is reporting pretty good sales from their electronics vending machines, which happen to include iPods (among other things, such as headphones). A single vending machine in Concourse A of the airport has made $55,000 worth of sales in just one month.

UPDATE: Pat posted a comment, apparently Motorola is already doing this!
