I find that statistic impressive.

Nokia sold more than a million units every day in the last quarter of 2006.
It remains the undisputed worldwide leader in mobile phone shipments, according to IDC. Nokia sold 105.5 million phones in the quarter and 347.5 million for the whole of 2006. Its smartphone shipments flew too. The company sold 11.1 million units.

Behind Nokia came Motorola, which shipped 217.4 million devices. It was a record, but the company still missed its 4Q06 profit target thanks largely to its late introduction of 3G devices.

Third was Samsung, which edged above 30 million sales in the quarter to ring up 118 million for the year. Next came Sony Ericsson, which increased its annual sales from 51 million to 78 million. The last of the big five is LG, whose Chocolate device was a worldwide hit. But profits did not keep up with volume: they were 72.9 down on 2005.

I did the division, it’s around 1.15 million phones a day. Wicked!
