As we’ve already mentioned last year, Fring allows you to make free mobile calls, send instant messages to other fring users, and communicate with PC based VoIP applications such as Skype and Google Talk. And now, it is available for latest Nokia S60 3rd edition smartphones.
However, the application is still in beta (preview) and may not work perfectly. At the moment of this writing only the N80 and N80i have been fully signed by Nokia. I tried to make it work on my N93 and couldn’t do it. On the other hand, it seems that the E61 and N80 users don’t have such problems.
It’s good to know that we can expect the fully working version soon. Skype for Symbian that actually uses WLAN for connection is something we all are waiting for. [picture taken from My Your's & Our E- 70 and E61]
Worked for me on N93
tested both gtalk and skype, other side was PC or E60. Connections over UMTS, Wlan and 100BaseT
Hello.
Do someone know how much data that transfers in an app like this??
I pay aprox $2 for each mb how much would a phonecall cost per minute with UMTS??
BR. Jonas
Jonas,
You can get the full bandwidth consumption data on our website at the ‘about’ section.
In any event, you will need less than 5mbytes per 60 minutes of voice conversation.
Your $2 per Mega is on the high side. Check with your carrier for a better plan. The usual pricing we see is $10-$20 for 250 Mbytes and up
Ok thanks for the reply.
I got another dataplan now 1gb for aprox $25 and after that gig it will be $2 for each mb.
So thats a little bit better
Thanks again

Fring now supports MSN messenger too, its a great app for my N80IE
