OnePlus Pad 3 Pro has flagship specs, but most buyers can’t get one

OnePlus has launched its most powerful tablet to date. The Pad 3 Pro arrives with a top-tier Qualcomm chip, a large high-refresh display, and a battery that could last through a full work day and then some. On paper, it’s exactly the kind of Android tablet enthusiasts have been requesting for years.

The catch is availability. Right now, the device appears to be aimed squarely at the Chinese market, leaving international buyers with no clear path to purchase. That’s a significant problem for a product with genuine flagship credentials.

For context, Android tablets have historically struggled to compete with Apple’s iPad lineup in terms of raw power and software polish. Devices like this one matter because they push the entire category forward. When they’re locked to a single region, that progress doesn’t reach most of the people who might benefit from it.

What the OnePlus Pad 3 Pro actually offers

The hardware is hard to fault. Here’s a quick breakdown of what the tablet brings:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, one of the most powerful mobile chips currently available
  • Up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage
  • 13.2-inch LCD display with a resolution of 3392 x 2400 and a 144Hz refresh rate
  • 13,380mAh battery with 67W fast charging
  • Eight-speaker audio setup
  • Stylus support and keyboard integration
  • Wi-Fi 7 connectivity

The storage and memory configuration puts this tablet in the same conversation as entry-level laptops. The display, with its high resolution and smooth refresh rate, is clearly built for both heavy productivity work and long media sessions.

OnePlus is pushing software alongside the specs

Raw performance alone rarely justifies a large tablet purchase, and OnePlus seems aware of that. The Pad 3 Pro includes a suite of productivity tools built around the tablet’s size, including desktop-style office applications, advanced file management, cross-device sharing features, and full keyboard integration.

The company is also leaning into AI, with tools aimed at note-taking, translation, and content creation. Whether those features prove genuinely useful in daily use remains to be seen. AI integrations in Android tablets have been hit or miss so far, and the real test comes after users have lived with the device for a few weeks.

Still, the direction makes sense. A 13.2-inch tablet needs a reason to exist beyond just playing video. Focusing on productivity gives the hardware a clearer purpose.

The availability problem undercuts the whole launch

Here’s where things get frustrating. At launch, the OnePlus Pad 3 Pro is only available in China. There’s no confirmed timeline for a global release. To make things worse, the globally sold OnePlus Pad 4 has only reached select regions, meaning many international buyers currently have no access to either of OnePlus’s top tablet options.

This is a pattern OnePlus has repeated before. The company regularly releases strong hardware in China first, with global availability following months later or not at all. For a tablet this capable, that gap feels especially sharp.

The Pad 3 Pro may well be one of the best Android tablets built to date. But until OnePlus commits to bringing it to global markets, most potential buyers will simply have to wait and hope.
